I started teaching yoga in 1996 after being asked to teach for Jhon Tamayo at Atmananda Yoga NYC.
I went to my first Ashtanga Yoga class in 2001. Since then I have had the blessing to receive guidance from Annie Pace, David Keil, David Williams, David Swenson and Shelley Washington in my personal practice as well as my teaching practice. I practice with David Swenson as often as I can. In September, 2013 I completed 40 hour Ashtanga Primary Series Training with David Swenson and maintain a dedication to being a lifelong student of Ashtanga Yoga. . I practice with David Swenson when he offers led second series and lead third and fourth as well as Pranayama in the Ashtanga tradition.
I graduated from Texas Christian University with the BFA in Dance and was a professional concert dancer for 15-years. During the 10 years I lived in NYC I studied Professional Level Ballet with Christine Wright at 890 Broadway,NYC and Modern Technique with Angie Wolfe and Ron Brown at Peridance, NYC.
My classes are Ashtanga based, and are good for beginners as well as seasoned practitioners. I use Sanskrit names when teaching the postures, but I don't expect my students to remember the Sanskrit names. I offer alternatives as I guide my students through their practice.
I have taught private clients and special yoga classes for Stress Management, Parkinson’s Disease, and Post Traumatic Stress.
Whenever I teach, my method remains the same ~ stay true to the teachers that have come before me and share a practice that is relevant to my student.
